Future Product Pipeline

Brushing solution for whitening teeth

Teeth whitening is a booming market dominated by products including toothpastes, strips, gels, and LED light teeth whitening devices to remove stains from teeth. Many of these products can lead to side effects such as gum irritation and can therefore only be used for short time periods. bonyf intends to market a teeth-whitening brushing solution, based on its in-house effervescent core technology. It is simple and easy to use, with no trays or syringes. The brushing solution is mixed at home and eliminates the need for regular toothpaste during the course of the 20-day treatment. A profound whitening effect has been clinically proven with excellent tolerability at the gum level. This product is also ideal for people with sensitive gums, which accounts for 50% of the population. Product classification: Cosmetic Device.

Anti-biofilm toothpaste

To complement the NitrAdine® based 10-day PerioTabs® treatment, a toothpaste based on bonyf’s anti-biofilm NitrAdine® formulation is being developed. This toothpaste will provide consumers the ideal product to maintain an optimal daily dental hygiene regime developed to be used in conjunction with PerioTabs®.

The toothpaste technology for this product is already in place in bonyf’s manufacturing plant and can therefore assure the production can take place as scheduled.

Dental chair tubing & handpiece aerosol disinfecting tablet

To reduce the risk of airdrop contamination during professional dental treatment, bonyf will commercialize a NitrAdine®-based disinfecting effervescent tablet intended to be dissolved in the water reservoir of dental chairs.

This will ensure the water that runs through the tubing system and the handpiece turbine will result in a disinfected aerosol (bacteria, virus and fungi-free) and eliminates any cross-contamination from the patient to the dental professional.

R&D Potential Future Applications

Anti-biofilm mouthwash

To complement the 10-day PerioTabs® treatment, and adjacent to the anti-biofilm toothpaste, an optimized mouthwash based on bonyf’s anti-biofilm formulation NitrAdine® is currently in R&D.

This mouthwash will provide consumers the ideal product to maintain an optimal daily dental hygiene regime to be used in conjunction with both PerioTabs® and the newly developed anti-biofilm toothpaste.

Pre-dental implant surgery disinfecting solution

Prior to any dental implant surgery, thorough disinfection of the implant site is a prerequisite for a successful outcome. As a result of the high clinical efficacy of PerioTabs® in the treatment and prevention of dental implant related infections, bonyf plans to develop a disinfecting tablet pre-packed in a small sterile glass container to which the dentist adds water.

This results in a biofilm removal solution with the aim of disinfecting the implant site in the mouth prior to dental implant placement.

Post-SRP/post-dental implant
muco-adhesive paste

Patients suffering from gingivitis and periodontitis undergo a scaling and root planing (SRP) procedure by the dentist to remove bacterial plaque built-up on the gum-line and in the periodontal pockets. This treatment is invasive and causes temporary gum inflammation, bleeding and pain.

A NitrAdine®-based disinfecting muco-adhesive cream (paste dressing) that the dentist can apply directly on the treated areas of the gums will be evaluated by bonyf.

This could ensure gums can recover properly as the muco-adhesive paste will protect and isolate the treated area from post treatment infections. This product can also be used by dental implant surgeons to protect the implant area post dental implant placement to prevent cross contamination and reduce pain.

Wart removal paste

Warts are caused by an infection with a virus called HPV (Human Papilloma Virus). Their growth can appear anywhere on the body and are easily transmittable. Common warts are found on average in 1 out of 5 people. Most products on the market are based on salicylic acid and/or freezing procedures to kill the virus infected cells.

This procedure of wart removal can be painful and uncomfortable. bonyf’s vision is to develop a wart removal paste based on its proven anti-viral NitrAdine® formulation with the hope of commencing clinical trials in the future.

Wound powder for diabetic patients

Impaired wound healing in immune compromised patients (in particular people with diabetes) is mainly due to microorganism presence (biofilm) in the wound sites. When an infected wound develops, healing is slow and adversely effects quality of life. Wounds on legs and feet can be very painful, and in some instances, life threatening. Aside from glucose control, current treatments of diabetic wounds are based on regular wound debridement combined with high doses of local and systemic antibiotics.

Many scientific publications on the clinical results obtained on several of bonyf’s products that contain NitrAdine®’s proven anti-biofilm formulation (used in PerioTabs®, AphtoFix®, HeelFix, FingerFix) have demonstrated substantial inflammation and pain reduction and as well as tissue healing improvement. bonyf will investigate this further with the aim of proving the product’s efficacy in the treatment of wounds in diabetic patients.

Paste for healing cold sores

Bed sores, also known as pressure injuries of the human skin, due to prolonged lying-in bed can be a serious problem amongst frail elderly people and are extremely painful. Pressure sores occur in 10 % of patients worldwide over 70 years of age and are mostly observed on heels, ankles, hips and the tailbone. Current treatments are based on removing pressure from the affected areas and regular wound debridement combined with local and systemic antibiotics to reduce wound infection.

Given the anti-biofilm and wound healing stimulating properties of the NitrAdine® based formulation, bonyf intends to research the development of a paste to help ease bed sores.

Paste for healing cold sores

Cold sores, also known as fever blisters or oral herpes, are small fluid-filled blisters that appear on lips that will burst open over time. Cold sores are caused by the Herpes Simplex virus and are highly contagious. 50-80% of adults suffer from cold sores at least once in their lifetime. Treatment is based on anti-viral topical formulations that need to be applied when the first signs of a cold sore appear.

As the NitrAdine® formulation has a proven anti-viral activity against herpes simplex, bonyf is investigating the efficacy of a NitrAdine®-based healing paste to treat cold sores.
