BARCELONA, Spain, 10 Oct 2019 – The Complutense University of Madrid in Spain recently completed a clinical trial evaluating OlivaFix® Gold Denture Adhesive Cream (OlivaFix® Gold) and a leading denture fixative cream brand with 40 denture wearers from both Spain and Portugal. The study was performed by Dr Luis Azevedo under the supervision of Prof Dr Jaime del Rio.

It confirmed that OlivaFix® Gold not only has a superior holding time in comparison to the leading denture fixative cream evaluated, but also demonstrated that OlivaFix® Gold substantially reduces the growth of Candida albicans, when compared to the other denture fixative cream evaluated. This positive effect is likely due to the presence of organic olive oil which is known for its antimicrobial properties. Candida albicans is the leading cause of denture stomatitis observed in 65% of all denture wearers.

This data was presented by Dr Luis Azevedo to an audience at the 2019 World Congress on Esthetic Dentistry in Barcelona, Spain.

The results of this study are currently in press and will be published as a peer reviewed scientific paper in a leading dental journal. Results of the study will be published online when they become available.
